The link preview is old — refreshing it on Facebook, Messenger and Zalo

Messaging apps cache the first preview they fetch. Three ways to make them fetch a fresh one.

Why it happens

When a link is pasted into Messenger, Zalo, WhatsApp or iMessage, the app fetches the page once, keeps the picture and title it found, and reuses them for days. If you changed the photo or the names after that first paste — or pasted the link while it was still a draft — the old preview lingers.

The Share page shows roughly what the preview looks like now: the first couple photo (or the template's poster if you have none) and "Bride & Groom — date". If that looks right and the apps still show something else, use one of the fixes below.

Fix 1 — Facebook Sharing Debugger

Press the button on the Share page; it opens Facebook's tool with your link filled in. Press Scrape again there. This refreshes Facebook, Messenger and Instagram at once. You need to be logged into Facebook.

Fix 2 — Zalo debug tool

Same idea for Zalo: the button opens Zalo's tool with your link; run it once and Zalo fetches a fresh preview.

Fix 3 — the fresh-preview link

The Share page also offers the same invitation with a small number added to the end of the address. Apps treat it as a link they have never seen and fetch a new preview. The number changes every minute, so copy it right before you send. It opens exactly the same invitation.

Order of operations

  • These tools only see a live invitation. Publish (or pay) first; a draft or an expired trial shows the tools a "not available" page.
  • Upload the couple photo, check the preview card on the Share page, then run the debugger, then send. Doing it in that order means most guests never see a stale preview at all.

The QR code and the poster

On the same page, Download QR gives a PNG of the public link for paper cards or a sign at the venue, and Download poster saves the preview image itself.
